A splendid Victorian mountain refuge adventure.

Pros: Incredible location. Very stylish and sympathetic renovation so you get the feel of the old property. Really nice staff. Particularly the dinner waitress.

Cons: All great

Amazing views and idea -expected the property to be newer & nicer food. Check out only till 10am!

Pros: The view, the bathroom. Mostly the staff was nice.

Cons: One waitress was a bit blunt. The property was a bit old, it would be great to have it renewed a little bit. The bed was a bit too soft. The food was just OK, nothing special, the potatoes of the tartiflette were hard. We didn't get good explanations on where to do snowshoes, just that there were two paths but when we asked twice, the receptionist did not give us any details. The photos are nicer than the actual property. The breakfast was only until 9.30 and check-out only until 10, ridiculous!

Overall, we had a wonderful time and would recommend to stay at the refuge

Pros: The location and view were incredible, and rooms very comfortable

Cons: Long waiting times during dinner. It seemed that the hotel was under-staffed

Unique hotel with a mountain train ride.

Pros: I’ve never stayed in a hotel like it, and probably never will again. It’s superb. Check in was friendly and easy. The rooms are perfect for the location, and honour the tradition of the hotel. The food was fabulous. We went half board and had a good selection for dinner (the local trout is a must have). Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. What makes this hotel so special is the mountain train ride that gets you there, the views once you are there, and the peace and quiet of being 8000 meters above sea level. Truly unique.

Pros: It was sensational! One of the best evenings that we have ever had. Parked our car at the station (very easy) and took the train up. We were greeted warmly and given a room immediately. Warm, cosy room. All in wood. Great toilet. Had a cappuccino, shower and then went down for the evening. Lovely views. An array of drinks. Including cocktails and single malts. An excellent 3 course dinner with choices... We lingered for 2 to 3 hours. Comfortable nights. Great linen. After a restful sleep had an amazing breakfast... Short walk too What an experience!
